Washington Huskies fall 30-7 at Redwood Christian in San Lorenzo
The Washington Huskies (Fremont) fell 30-7 on the road at Redwood Christian in San Lorenzo on Friday, October 16, dropping to 5-2 on the season. The loss, per the MaxPreps game page, ended a five-game winning run that had carried the Huskies to 5-1.
A dark night in San Lorenzo
Washington's athletics Instagram account @huskycountry posted "Blackout! 🌎" the day before the trip — and the night went just as dark. Redwood Christian outscored the Huskies by 23. MaxPreps lists a final-only box score for this game, so there is no period-by-period breakdown to work with: Washington crossed the plane for a single 7, and Redwood Christian's 30 came down all night.
It is not a game the Huskies will rush to rerun. The offense stalled, and the defense, which had been one of the better units in the area all season, gave up the most points it has in a game so far this year.
Where the 5-2 record stands
The loss drops Washington to 5-2 with a one-game skid. Two weeks earlier the Huskies rolled 20-6 over American to reach 5-1, so the stretch run looks a lot different coming out of it. Five wins and two losses in mid-October still leaves plenty of football to play, and this one is behind the team now.
Next: Kennedy at home, 7pm, October 23
The rebound is coming fast. Per the MaxPreps schedule, the Huskies host Kennedy (Fremont) on Friday, October 23 at 7pm — the same Titans that are now at home for their own Oct 23 date against Washington. A home game after a 23-point road loss is the kind of reset Washington needs, with the crowd on their side and a full week to address the 30 points allowed in San Lorenzo.
If you are in the stands that night, the Dragon's Fire Feast at Round Table Pizza on Decoto Road is $31.99 — a pre-game or post-game call your team will agree on either way.
